Connect2Cycle (C2C) — a connected cross-border cycling network, funded by the European Union under the Interreg Meuse-Rhine programme.
European and regional co-financing: the Connect2Cycle (C2C) programme is implemented under the Interreg Meuse-Rhine programme (NL-BE-DE) and co-financed to the amount of €1,630,323.49 by the European Union, €330,812.00 by BE-Wallonia, €168,002.98 by DE-Land NRW, and €177,407.67 by NL-Provincie Limburg.
The Meuse-Rhine (MR) region boasts many beautiful cycling routes, but cross-border cooperation is not always easy. Differences in language, signage and information sometimes make routes unclear and cycle tourism fragmented. Some places are very popular, others less well known. Connect2Cycle (C2C) aims to change that. C2C brings together all initiatives, facilitates cross-border cycling and ensures a better, more sustainable experience.
The aim is to create a strong, connected cycling network, with special themed routes, digital tools and quality services for cyclists. There will be at least three new routes, fifteen service points, and a shared "widget" containing everything cyclists need to know. The project will help at least 50 businesses offer more to cyclists and will ensure a better distribution of tourism across the region.
C2C facilitates cooperation between different countries, municipalities and businesses. This makes the whole region more attractive to both tourists and residents. Local businesses and the hospitality sector benefit from increased visitor numbers and new opportunities. Without cooperation and funding, cycle tourism in the MR region would remain fragmented.
