The Nourrir l'OVA festival is back this year with no fewer than 14 activities organised throughout the Ourthe-Vesdre-Amblève region, from Friday 4 September to Sunday 19 September.
You can find here the full programme, including talks, open days, various local markets, activities for children and a theatre performance, among other things. These events will be open to everyone, young and old alike, and aim to promote and highlight short supply chains, local farming, and healthy food. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 15 October for the festival's closing event, the play "Nourrir l'Humanité, c'est un métier", in Anthisnes.
Full programme (PDF)In 2011, an actor and farmer's son decided to create a show about the farming world: "Nourrir l'Humanité c'est un métier" ("Feeding Humanity is a Profession"). Drawing on field research carried out among dozens of farmers in Belgium and France, the show brought to the stage the voices of those who feed us, sharing their daily lives, their struggles, their doubts…
Ten years on, the agricultural landscape has changed. The intensive or conventional model is still very much present, yet more and more people are choosing to return to the land and to produce differently. To stay as close as possible to reality, Adoc Compagnie took to the roads once again to gather new testimonies. Through understated staging, the show weaves together a mosaic of sensitive, poignant, sometimes funny and often deeply moving accounts. It speaks of bankruptcies, solitude, business takeovers, career changes, access to land… but also of new forms of solidarity, agroecological experiments, and the fight for healthier, fairer and more sustainable food. These new encounters gave rise to "Nourrir l'Humanité – Acte II" in 2021.
